Erasmus+ programme is providing opportunities for over 4 million Europeans to study, train, gain work experience and volunteer abroad. It is supporting transnational partnerships among Education, Training, and Youth institutions and organizations to foster cooperation and bridge the worlds of Education and work in order to tackle the skills gaps we are facing in Europe.
As an association, Amazonas is active in Erasmus+ program, as host and sending organisation. We have organised one training course, one youth exchange and we already finished two European voluntary service projects, and one we are hosting at the moment. Moreover, we are sending organisation of more then 30 youngsters.

Description of projects:
At the moment, we are hosting EVS ‘International spirit in local capoeira communities’ in which we are hosting two volunteers, Elif Valeriya Sanli from Turkey and Martyna Pyl from Poland. They will be on service from September 2016. till August 2017.
‘Capoeira for Solidary Society’ is our first really long EVS project. From October 2015 till August 2016., we have hosted two volunteers, Else Collins from Spain and Tania Cabral from Portugal. During the period of stay volunteers were preparing and implementing native language classes and English playground workshops in schools. They created and edited five short movies and they create a few events during the Festival of Brazilian culture Brazilactica: flashmob, portuguese poetry night in Booksa, samba workshop and dinner in Rodizio. As a result of dedicated work of volunteers in local community, our users meet new cultures, become more tolerant and open minded and they learned more about Erasmus+ and mobility options. Volunteers experienced life in new country, met new people and improve many skills. Moreover, this project is part of Erasmus+ good practice examples.
‘Capoeira EVS’ was our first European voluntary project. From May 2015. we to August 2015, Amazonas hosted two volunteers: Ana Caetano from Portugal and Edita Titan from Slovenia. In this three mounts, volunteers were writing blog and articles about capoeira, working on promotional activities, creating workshops for children in OŠ Ljudevit Gaj in Zaprešić, leading Portuguese lessons and learning how to shoot and edit a short movie. As a result of their engagement in local community volunteers met lot of new friends, establish partnerships with other capoeira associations and develop their personal skills.
‘Play different, play Capoeira!’ was created as an extension of previously conducted project for youth workers that was based on developing tools and methods in work with youth with fewer opportunities (Capoeira as a tool in working with youth with fewer opportunities). This project was focusing on youth and development of their own skills and potentials. Specifically, focusing on development of collaboration and understanding among youth in order to raise their awareness of abilities they have in creating more collaborating environment in their own communities. Since lack of understanding and collaboration leads to conflicts trainers were using different methods to show participants the importance of understanding and collaboration in everyday life. The main idea was to develop understanding and collaboration among young people from different countries, cultures and with different backgrounds by using non-formal educational methods such as discussions, group work, dance etc. In this way trainers were bringing attention on participants and used their experiences and knowledge as a resource for further learning. Basic tools that were used in this project were capoeira and outdoor activities such as initiative or cooperative group games.
‘Capoeira as a tool in working with youth with fewer opportunities’ training course was held in Zadar, Croatia 2013. Participants were 17 young enthusiasts – capoeira trainers and youth workers from capoeira organizations that include youth with fewer opportunities through their activities. Participating countries were from Croatia, Slovenia, Slovakia, and Czech Republic. Training course was financed by Youth in Action. Training was conducted by two trainers with experience in non-formal education of young people with fewer opportunities and with experience in using capoeira as a tool in work with people with fewer opportunities. Through training participants learned more about the methodology and principles of non-formal education and learning by experience. As an outcome of training course participants created workshops for youth using capoeira as a tool in learning process.
